Ceremony Sound in the Redwood Cathedral

Most Waterfall Lodge weddings begin in the Redwood Cathedral, tucked among the towering redwoods just above the main reception area.

Outdoor ceremonies require professional audio that’s powerful enough to fill the space while remaining clean and discreet. I bring a completely dedicated ceremony sound system designed specifically for this location. It includes:

• Crystal-clear sound for your ceremony music
• Wireless microphone for your officiant
• Individual wireless microphone for the couple so every vow is heard
• Additional handheld wireless microphone for ceremony readings
• Professional backup equipment for peace of mind

The goal is simple. Your guests shouldn’t notice the sound system. They should simply hear every word of your ceremony perfectly.

A Smooth Transition to Cocktail Hour

Following the ceremony, Waterfall Lodge staff help guide guests toward the reception area. While shuttles are available, many guests enjoy the scenic walk through the redwood forest. It’s one of my favorite parts of the day because guests naturally transition from the emotion of the ceremony into the excitement of the celebration.

As everyone arrives at the Barn patio, cocktail music is already playing.

My primary DJ system is set up inside the Barn with speakers carefully aimed toward the patio. This creates even sound coverage for cocktails and conversation without overpowering the space. Guests can comfortably mingle while enjoying music that complements the relaxed atmosphere.

This is also where I begin serving as your Master of Ceremonies. Rather than making the event about myself, my style is calm, organized, and professional. I’ll welcome your guests, provide clear directions throughout the evening, and keep everything moving naturally without cheesy jokes, unnecessary chatter, or fake crowd motivation.

Dinner Beneath the Redwoods

One of Waterfall Lodge’s most memorable features is the outdoor dinner patio beneath a canopy of old-growth redwoods.

Long before guests arrive, I already have sound equipment in place for this location. That means there’s no downtime when everyone moves from cocktail hour to dinner. Music continues seamlessly as guests transition to their seats, helping maintain the flow of the evening.

Many couples choose this beautiful setting for their grand entrance as newlyweds. Even if you’ve joined your guests during cocktail hour, this creates another special moment before dinner begins.

The dinner sound system also includes a wireless handheld microphone for toasts and speeches so everyone can clearly hear your family and friends without shouting across the patio.

Some couples even choose to share their first dance or cut their wedding cake here beneath the redwoods before moving into the Barn for dancing later in the evening. Others prefer saving both moments for inside the Barn. Either option works beautifully, and I’ll help coordinate whichever timeline best fits your vision.

Dancing Inside the Barn

After dinner concludes, guests make their way into one of the most iconic spaces at Waterfall Lodge: the beautifully restored rustic Barn.

While everyone has been enjoying dinner, my main performance system has been standing by, ready for an immediate transition into dancing.

This is where the energy changes.

Professional sound, intelligent dance floor lighting, and carefully programmed music create an incredible party while still respecting the rustic character of the venue. Every playlist is customized around your musical tastes and your guests, creating a dance floor that feels fun, natural, and full all night long.

Many of my Waterfall Lodge couples also add architectural uplighting throughout the Barn. It completely transforms the room, highlighting the beautiful wood construction while creating the atmosphere of an upscale private nightclub hidden in the redwoods.

My custom-built vintage tweed DJ booth fits the aesthetic of Waterfall Lodge perfectly. Instead of modern black boxes or flashy facades, the setup complements the rustic elegance of the venue while housing professional-grade sound equipment.
