Is it OK to Have Our Dog be in Our Wedding Ceremony

By DJ Justin Warwick from DJ Enterprises Mobile Disc Jockey & Photo Booth

For many couples, having their furry best friend be a part of their wedding ceremony is a dream come true. Dogs bring so much joy and love into our lives, and it’s only natural that we want them to be a part of our special day. When I’m the DJ at a wedding ceremony and a Dog of Honor comes out as part of the procession, it always brings a big smile to my face, and everyone else’s! Full disclosure, I’m a huge lover of dogs and all things furry. My wife and I have five beautiful Golden Retrievers.

Having your dog be a part of your wedding ceremony can be a wonderful experience. There are many ways to include your furry friend in your big day, and it’s up to you to decide what works best for you and your pup. Here are a few ideas to consider:

Dog of Honor

If you have a special dog in your life, why not make them your “Dog of Honor”? This is a great way to show your pup just how much they mean to you. You can dress them up in a special outfit, give them a collar or leash that matches your wedding colors, and have them walk down the aisle with you.

Ring Bearer

Your furry friend can also play the role of the ring bearer. You can attach the rings to a special collar or pillow, and have your pup carry them down the aisle. This is a great way to involve your dog in the ceremony and make them feel like a special part of your big day.

Photo Opportunities

Dogs make great subjects for wedding photos. You can have your pup pose with you and your partner. Or have them take part in a fun and playful photo shoot. This is a great way to capture some fun and memorable moments with your furry friend.

Dog-friendly Venues

If you want your dog to be a part of your wedding ceremony. You’ll need to find a venue that is dog-friendly. Look for venues that allow dogs on the premises, and make sure to check with the venue ahead of time to see if there are any restrictions or requirements.

Dog Handler

If you’re worried about your dog getting too excited or anxious during the ceremony, you can hire a dog handler to help keep them calm and focused. A professional handler will help make sure your pup is well-behaved and stays focused on their role in the ceremony. Check with the AKC website for professional handlers in your area.

Lastly, having your dog be a part of your wedding ceremony is a wonderful way to include them in one of the most important days of your life. Whether you decide to make them your “Dog of Honor.” Have them carry the rings. Or simply include them in some fun photo opportunities. Your furry friend is sure to make your wedding day even more special. So, go ahead and let your pup join in on the celebration. After all, they’re a part of the family too, just don’t forget their treats!
